Testimonials | Hospice provided invaluable services.

My mother, Linda Pedro was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. She had a mastectomy which revealed stage four breast cancer with fourteen positive nodes. My mom underwent extreme chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

All was well for four years and then it came back this time advancing to her bones, her other breast and eventually to her liver and pancreas. On her birthday this year, August 11th, I took her to a special luncheon given by her friends and then to the doctor. It was on this visit that Dr. Massingill told us she had four to six months at best if the chemo worked and if mom decided to undergo the treatment.

She decided not to spend her last days in chemo and to live the end of her life at home. Dr. Massingill recommended Hospice of Shreveport/Bossier. Hospice provided invaluable services. The nurse came to visit once a week in the beginning and she was on call 24 hours a day. Hospice also provided a Social Worker and a Chaplain that met with us. They offered constant support and comfort.

Our hospice nurse, Jean, was such a blessing. She would pick up any new prescription and bring it to the house within hours. She ordered all of the equipment and it arrived in a timely and professional manner. We would call her late in the evening and sometimes into the night. Jean always answered. She was kind and gentle in guiding us to care for my mom’s extreme pain toward the end. Our family could not have managed things without our angel Jean! My mom lost her battle with this horrible disease only two months after her birthday – October 11, 2008.

Our family highly recommends Hospice of Shreveport Bossier for any family with a loved one that has terminal illness. We could not have made it through all of the trying times without the wise and caring staff. Thank you for your support.
